WOW – 10 Years!

He was teased about coming to Australia to find a wife, thought he would only be in the country for 6 months, arrived for a DTS with part of a computer in his luggage and wondered what on earth God had for him in Townsville. Well folks…that was Bill 10 years ago and just this past week our ministry had a time of honoring him for his serving here at Reef to Outback. It was combined with a special Thanksgiving dinner the base had where we all came together to thank God and reflect on all He has done in and through the ministry over the past year.
It has been pretty significant to us that as God transitions us to Canada to minister with YWAM on a more international level, Bill has also just celebrated his 10th year of being in the mission.
There is something special about seeing your husband honored for serving God…so much of which often goes unnoticed. Bill’s role of being in the background fixing people’s computers, ensuring our phone systems are working, developing web sites and linking up nations through video conferencing is not something many people think too much about regarding the person behind it all. However, this night was a night where our 100+ staff and students were made aware of the person who allows our technology as a ministry to be where it is at today and as a result, allows the nations to be reached for God.
From a wife’s perspective, there is also honor due for being a husband and father of dilligence, perserverance and obedience to God in raising a young family in missions…which of course is not always an easy thing to do at times.
Bill was stoked with the special gift he received….a Kangaroos Rugby Jersey. Perfect for our move to Canada!
