When Pop Came to Visit!
Written by Tamara on March 16, 2009 in News
Although a 5 and half hour plane flight away, there was no way this Pop was going to let his grandkids move to the other side of the world without fitting in one more visit and play time with them. My Dad came to visit for 5 nights from Adelaide. He sweated, the kids sweated, they woke their Pop before the sun, they jumped on him, climbed on him and all the other things that only a grandkid could get away with in the eyes of their Pop.
Growing up I remember my Dad doing all he possibly could to avoid having his photograph taken. He would do the disappearing trick all too often whenever a camera appeared. All I can say is that Caleb and Jessica hold an extremely special place in their Pop’s heart. During his visit, the camera never turned off as my Dad asked for photo after photo of himself with the kids… and then… even getting behind the camera himself to snap photos as Caleb and Jessica danced and pranced around for their Pop.
It would be a tough choice I think for my Dad to have picked one favourite memory from this special visit with Caleb and Jessica. It may have been the 6am morning where he woke to find Caleb sitting at his bedside simply staring at him, or the afternoon where Jessica’s dirty nappy (diaper) almost knocked him to the floor with the stench…(sorry for writing that one Jessica.)
Bill and I are convinced that my Dad will sleep for a week to recover, but do you think he will mind? Not one single bit!!
Thanks for coming to visit Dad and Pop!!
