Wow – This is Hard!
We knew that this year would be challenging, but we really didn’t expect it would be this hard …
We’ve gone through a decrease in income, an increase in expenses, an international move, major house renovations, death of a close family member and major challenges with Caleb and Tamara’s health. They Came!!
We felt like we were in a countdown until Christmas as Caleb and Jessica counted down the “approximate” days it would take for our much loved possessions to arrive from Australia. After all, I guess it was like having “Christmas in July”.
It was the BEST feeling ever to see the delight on our children’s faces and a bitter sweet moment for us as this was the last “logistical” part of our big move…other than the settling bit of course which will come. Read the rest of this entry »

Broken Major Appliances
We’re going to be upfront right away here to say that we are in a “spot of bother” with all of our major appliances since moving into our home here in Calgary.
To paint the picture a little clearer for Australians reading here…the majority of homes in Canada are sold with their major appliances included. This is a rare thing for us Aussies, but not for Canadian homes. “Initially” we thought this was great. Read the rest of this entry »

A Bit of a Foreign Thing!
People from back home have been asking how we are finding the settling in process. As each week passes we are finding out more and more differences between what we know and what we are yet to learn. It’s kind of fun, but hard all at the same time!! For Bill, it is a quick re-learn, where as for us born and bred Aussie’s….it’s a much steeper learning curve.

The “Settling” Bit
This is the next part of our transition phase. We’ve passed the decision making, packing, selling and closure part (that’s what we did in Australia), now we’re onto the “Settling” stage and YES, we would love to get covered in PRAYER for this part!
Not too sure how long this stage will be, but praise the Lord that He knows! There is comfort in knowing that our Lord NEVER puts us through things that we cannot handle without HIS help and strength! Read the rest of this entry »
