    More Than One Hand Now

Written by Bill Hutchison on December 16, 2008 in News

You know your little boy is growing up when he holds up two hands to show you how old he is. On October 1st, our not so little boy anymore, turned 6! I know I will sound like the all too typical Mum here when I ask “where have all the years gone?”

Caleb was able to celebrate his actual birthday down in Adelaide with his extended family as we had headed down there for a one week visit with them during his school holidays. Even more exciting for him was being able to celebrate again once we got back home to Townsville where we held a party for him with his school friends.

On his birthday while in Adelaide, we treated him with a visit to the National Railway Museum….the highlight for Caleb of course was the opportunity to pull the train whistle since it was his birthday. It gave Jessica a bit of a fright as we don’t think she knew what her big brother was about to do.

His Adelaide birthday was adorned with “Adelaide Crows” apparel thanks to his Pop’s influence with supporting the local Aussie Rules Football club down there. Caleb has adopted them as his own team now and simply loves anything “Crows” related…pertaining to the football team that is. Can’t forget to mention his new love for Lego either, so of course his Daddy insisted he get some of that for his birthday too. A great suggestion for one of Caleb’s Uncles!

I guess you could say his 6th birthday was extra special….especially for his extended family. Given the move we will be making soon to Calgary, Canada to continue our YWAM work there, it may have been the last visit for a little while.

Caleb’s Townsville party was yesterday and it went off really well. We held it a local park (something that can be done nicely here in October before it gets too hot and sticky) that had some awesome play equipment. One look at Caleb at any given time throughout the morning was a sure sign of how much fun he was having. That was certainly pleasing to one particular Mum and Dad who were up until midnight the night before making and decorating the birthday cake. Check it out in the slide show below. What do you think?
